With campaign posters of all shapes and sizes now adorning campus (and the explosion in the SUSU foyer which can only be described as paint factory chunder), campaign week is now in full swing as the 70-odd election candidates try to convince us to secure their future for them. Some of their posters could easily be mistaken for an 8-year-old’s Art homework, while others wouldn’t look out of place in national election campaigns. From the hilarity, to the innuendos, to the downright creepy, we’ve sifled through all of them and picked out the best and the worst so that YOU don’t have to! You can thank us later.

Here at Soton Tab we reckon Joe Hart’s got the right idea with this Tory-spoof campaign poster. Despite being a joke presidential candidate, his poster is the most professional looking of the lot… there’s elections logic for you. Anyone else spot the acrostic in his four key policies?

Anjit’s aim is to stand out and be memorable – an aim which he may well have achieved with this poster. But would you really want to go into a toilet cubicle and see this staring at you from the back of the door? …Thought not.

We’ve whiled away a few hours going through the accents you have to adapt to make the words ‘beggin” and ‘Megan’ rhyme. So far, we’ve got Northern Irish, Australian, Indian and American – being a multicultural University, we’ll give Megan the benefit of the doubt on this tenuous rhyme. Any more accents that ‘beggin’ for Megan’ rhymes in? Let us know in comments!

Our friendly rivals the Wessex Scene choose their Editor democratically (cute, huh?), and this year Kerry Sclater, one of the candidates, has re-branded the Wessex Scene logo with her own initials as part of her campaign. A good idea, but one that looks alarmingly like she has a secret plot to start some sort of totalitarian regime over at Wessex Scene HQ. Of course, given the state of censorship in SUSU media, it wouldn’t be a total surprise! Watch this space…
