Over a busy weekend of racing at the National water sports centre near Nottingham, SUBC got some impressive results.

Racing took the format of a morning time trial with the top 12 then having semi finals and the top 3 from both qualifying for the A final for medals. In still conditions the women’s intermediate quadruple scull took home a bronze medal in an exciting finish. Then clinched a podium by passing Durham in the last few hundred meters and beat them by 0.19 seconds.

The Beginner men’s eight made their A final for the first time since 2008, finishing as the 6th best novice rowers in the country.

In the Coxed Four the boys made up for missing the A final by 0.28 seconds, going on to win the B final in style. This meant they gained four places in the last 1000 meters to finish 7th in their category. The women’s intermediate four came 5th to Oxford Brooks.

In another B final the men’s intermediate quad beat Nottingham Trent by 0.5 seconds to finish 8th overall. Both the women’s lightweight double and men’s lightweight pair finished 9th in their categories.

In the prestigious men’s eight SUBC came 11th in the intermediate category. These impressive results mean 62% of Southampton crews got into the semi finals.
