Southampton FC have appointed Ronald Koeman to be their next manager.

The 51 year old Dutchman has signed a three year contract with Southampton FC, following a 19 day search for a replacement after Argentine Mauricio Pochettino left for Tottenham Hotspurs.

In May Koeman resigned from a job at Feyenoord, who finished second in last season’s Dutch league.

As a player he won the Euro ’88 with the Netherlands. He also bagged two European cups with Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven, on top of other domestic silver wear.

About his appointment, Koeman said to the Daily Echo

Southampton have a talented first-team squad, a world-class academy and the infrastructure to sustain success in the Premier League

Koeman’s brother Erwin had been appointed his assistant, joining from a coaching role in RKC Waalwijk. Once again, he will also work with Jan Kluitenberg, who will be assistant first team and fitness coach.
