Paramedics, police and firefighters called to Westquay

Woman threatens to jump from car park

This afternoon a woman climbed over the tenth-floor barrier of Westquay car park and threatened to jump.

The incident occurred around 12.30pm and passing shoppers called the police and fire brigade and described an adult woman hanging off the outside of the multi-storey car park.

Firefighters rescued the woman, unharmed, with an aerial ladder almost an hour later.

South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) released a statement shortly after:

"This was a concern for welfare incident that Hampshire Police asked us to attend at the multi-storey car park.
We’ve no patient currently and looking at our incident notes it seems the patient has been/is being safely removed from danger."
