An Interview with the Boys at St Andrews Let…
We all know from personal experience that the business of property in St Andrews is nightmarish. Not only is it sparse, but it is horrifically expensive too. Are you tired of facing a 12 month lease with rent high enough to make you consider having a cardboard box for a home? Well, look no further than St Andrews students Jorge Milburn and Anders Fagernaes… Studying Economics and Economics with IR respectively, this enterprising young duo has come up with a master plan to solve all your problems. Their answer is St Andrews Let, a student owned-and-run company which sub-lets student properties during the summer. It is so simple yet so wonderfully brilliant. Why has no one come up with this before?
Launched last April, St Andrews Let has proved that this initiative works, and that it works well. During the summer this town is a hot bed for tourists and golfers, all of whom will need somewhere to stay. What could be more perfect than having them take over your rent for those summer months? All you need to do is get permission from your landlord and, acting as agents, Jorge and Anders take care of the rest so that the whole experience is hassle-free.
Driven and enthusiastic, these two clearly mean business. The best thing about St Andrews Let is that, as students, both Jorge and Anders are in touch with the student body. And they intend to remain so, wanting to keep this initiative in the hands of students and away from the estate agents that we distrust. Next year they are planning to recruit two 2nd years, adding one more to the team each year. So if any of you are looking for internships look no further…
So, to sum it up: instead of paying to not be there, you are being paid to not be there. Too good to be true? It isn’t. We urge you: go forth and let St Andrews Let take care of your property worries.
