Introducing St Andrews Most Eligible Bachelor: Callum Weimer
The king has been crowned
After four rounds of voting and a total of 2,816 vote we have our winner. The final votes were counted and The St Andrews Tab is proud to announce Callum Weimer is this years most eligible bachelor.
I had the wonderful opportunity to interview this year’s hottest lad and get the answers to all the questions you wanted asked (and some you didn’t).
Callum’s profile:
Name: Callum Weimer
Age: 22
Subject: English and Art History
How do you feel about winning?
I’m honoured, really. The competition was rather fierce, and I’ll admit we were all some pretty handsome blokes. My mom always told me I was a special boy, but now I have proof.
Why did you enter?
Well I’ve been waiting my whole life to meet that special lady, and this just seemed like the perfect opportunity to make my public appearance. I feel like a debutante or a displaced Southern Belle.
What is your perfect date?
April 26th, because it’s not too hot, but not too cold either (we all love a Miss Congeniality fan)
My ideal date? I make you dinner, seafood risotto or something else posh sounding. Then we drink wine and try to paint like Bob Ross. After that we lay on the grass outside and twiddle our thumbs and look at constellations.
What is your favourite St Andrews memory?
In second year, my best friend Michael from back in Louisville studied abroad here for the whole year. On May Dip, we were the only two of everyone we went out with to make it through the night and to the beach the next morning. I remember looking at the sun glitter in the tide-pools and think about how meaningful it was for Michael to have travelled so far to experience that with me. Poetic right?
Where would you most like to travel?
I’d like to go back to China because I speak some Mandarin and went on a class trip when I was 15, but I don’t think I appreciated the experience enough at the time.
What is your favourite hangover cure?
2 litres of water and a plate of Regs’ mushy peas
What book do you think everyone needs to read?
Bright Lights, Big City by Jay McInerney because it’s brilliant and accessible
Netflix or Amazon Prime?
Prime, if only for Fleabag or Marvelous Mrs Maisel
Wine or beer or spirits?
Not just spirits—bourbon.
If you could have one superpower what would it be?
To be an earth bender like from Avatar
Finally, is there anyone you would like to thank?
I want to thank my sister Carina for being my biggest advocate! She was essentially my campaign manager. And I’d like to thank the boys in Oxford, OH for their help as well.
Well done Callum and commiserations to all of our other contestants. If you think you’ve got what it takes to be St Andrews Most Eligible Bachelor feel free to apply next year!
