Student fares for Sussex buses have changed

The Brighton and Hove bus service have announced a rise of fares to take place on the 26 April in an attempt to promote users to buy ahead of journeys

Students who purchase day saver tickets will not be affected with the price frozen at the same £3.

However, those students who bulk season tickets will suffer with the price of the 7 day saver going from £12.50 to £13 and the 90 day saver going from £115 to £120.

Other routes and fares have also been affected with city single fares now costing £2.50 (A 10p increase) and citySAVER tickets costing £5 (a 30p increase).

The good news is that the Premium bus fare at night (usually costing £4 for students getting back to Sussex campus) will be removed in place for normal fare prices. CitySAVER tickets will not work in this new system.

Brighton and Hove bus service have announced the change in fares as “part of their continuing effort to encourage people to purchase ahead of travel” in which they hope more users will use m-tickets.

Service has been slowed down by 14% over the past 8 years even with their efforts to improve transport links around Brighton.

Brighton and Hove bus service have also announced their commitment to improving the services this year by investing £7 million into less polluting buses, available Wi-fi, and the introduction of more audio-visual announcements.
