Sussex has retained its position in the top 200 in this year’s world university rankings

Sussex is the 187th best university in the world, according to the latest rankings published today by QS (Quacquarelli Symonds).

This year we managed to maintain our place in the global rankings, in a year when most UK universities fell by more than a few places. One of our closest rivals in the rankings last year, Belfast, actually fell 13 places in the rankings to 195th. We were more consistent than the likes of York, who fell 24 places, and we are still the 29th best UK university on the global stage.

Sussex scored particularly low in the following categories:

• Academic Reputation – 37.4%
• Employer Reputation – 21.4%
• Citations per Faculty – 33.3%

But was saved by its particularly high scores in the Faculty-Student ratio (73%), International Faculty (89%) and International Students (93.8%).
The International Faculty and Students scores were so high in fact that on those aspects alone, Sussex would have ranked 80th and 53rd in the world respectively.
