Pav Tav is closing for good this week and now I’m crying

Wave goodbye to those Thursday drink deals

The Royal Pavilion Tavern, more commonly known as Pav Tav, will be closing its doors for the final time on Thursday 26th September, it has been announced.

The pub broke the sad news on their website, confirming that the closure is "permanent".

Just go and break my heart why don't you

The pub, which is owned by the Mitchell and Butler chain, has been enjoyed by Sussex students since the university opened in 1961.

Rob, a supervisor at Pav Tav, told the Sussex Tab that he only discovered he was losing his job two weeks ago. The fate of the building remains uncertain, Rob added. He said: "We know flats are going above and the actual bar has been sold but that's all we know."

The Royal Pavilion Tavern's last day will be Thursday 26th September, so get those drinks in and pour one out for Pav Tav.
