New vaccination centres open across Brighton and Hove
There are now four sites across Brighton offering the vaccine
Maddie PritchardNew vaccination centres have opened across Brighton and Hove this week. There are now a total of four sites across the region where eligible residents can receive the coronavirus vaccine.
Run by an amalgamation of local GPs, sites are due to open at Brighton Racecourse and County Oak Medical Centre, joining Portslade Health Centre and St Augustine’s Arts and Events Centre, which began delivering the vaccine in December.
The University of Sussex Health Centre is involved in the running of the County Oak vaccination site – the surgery that was forced to close last February after being linked to one of the first outbreaks of coronavirus.
The approval and rollout of the Oxford vaccine has sped up the vaccination effort, particularly for care home residents, who cannot go to hospitals to receive the jab. Brighton and Hove services are being issued with both the Oxford and Pfizer vaccines.
