Membership will cost £5 annually for students, who can sign up on the YUSU website or by turning up to the society's first meeting on Tuesday 20th February in V/N/123 at 5:30pm.

University of York Memes, who have set up the society, told The Tab: "It will be whatever people want. A few ideas we have so far are explaining the origins of certain memes, explaining the meme making process and just general social stuff like playing cards against humanity and other chill things."

They also suggested that they were "keen on having themed bar crawls" but are keeping an open mind, saying: "If there are a lot of non-drinkers then we'll definitely run other types of things as well."
