The mass student trip to the Co-op actually happened in York
It all came about as a result of a forfeit
A student visit to the Co-op happened after being organised as a Facebook event.
Almost 2,000 people had registered their interest in the Facebook event and the trip went ahead.

This surely came up on your timeline
While the trip was happening, the Co-op had to call members of staff off their lunch breaks on to till duty. One person attending the event claimed that the Co-op had held a meeting anticipating the impact of the trip.
Sam Shawdon, the student and famous Hull Road resident who organised the trip explained his motivations to The Tab.

The man, the myth, the legend
He said: "To be honest, it was a forfeit in our house. I lost a game of odds-on and had to make an event on Facebook which I had to invite all my Facebook friends to. However, there's a limit on Facebook that only lets you invite 200 people to an event. Everyone started sharing it though and by day 5 there was about 1000 people interested."
Sam was asked about his choice of outfit, adding: "I decided to wear a Christmas tree outfit so that people would know I'm the organiser and to come to me if they get lost or if they're looking for the social. It's the only fancy dress I have – I found it on the floor in the Salvos smoking area last term. This is the first time I've worn it since."
When asked if he had any plans to do anything similar in the future, Sam said: "Considering how happy this event made me I would do something similar. Not the co-op though because it could get boring. Maybe I'll do a trip to the twenty four hour M&S on Lawrence Street or Nisa on campus."
