York St John make UK’s Top 100 LGBT inclusive employers
They ranked within the top ten universities
York St John University have been named one of Stonewall UK's top 100 employers for LGBT inclusion. The university has been ranked as 49th on the 2020 top 100, after not featuring on the rankings back in 2019.
Stonewall UK are a LGBT charity who promote "acceptance without expectation". Each year they rank the UK's top 100 most LGBT inclusive employers. Stonewall use the Workplace Equality Index data to rank entries for their annual top 100, with 2020 seeing the most entrants yet with 503 employers applying.
Not only do York St John feature in the top 100, they are within the top ten ranked universities within the list. The top five universities on the list include Cardiff University, The University of Sheffield, De Monfort University, Teesside University and Swansea University.
York St John University also feature on Stonewall UK's 2020 Top Trans Employers. Employers on this list represent entrants that have received the highest scores in through the Workplace Equality Index for creating trans-inclusive workplaces. This included meeting certain criteria such as enabling non-binary employees to be recognised within workplace systems, providing support for individuals whom are transitioning whilst in their workplace and promoting events such as the Trans Day of Visibility.
Stonewall UK's top 2020 employer was the Newcastle City Council, whom have ranked in first place for the last three years.
The University of York was not featured on the 2020 or 2019 Stonewall UK Top 100 LGBT inclusive employers.
