Update: Last night’s ‘fire’ on campus was actually steam from a water leak

Fire services attended the scene around 11pm last night

Last night’s ‘fire’ at The Ron Cooke Hub on Campus East was actually steam from a burst water pipe.

The York Tab reported the building was on fire due to several ambulances at the scene, what appeared to be smoke rising from the building, and fire alarms heard across campus.

This incident was actually hot steam from a burst water pipe and water leak and not a fire.

Fire services did attend the scene and no one was injured.
