Defiant tweets that show Londoners will never be cowed by terrorism
‘London is the city that endured the Blitz – it’s got this’
Yesterday, London came under attack, and innocent people were killed. The plan was to show that these things can happen under our noses, in broad daylight, in one of the safest parts of our city – to make us afraid.
In the aftermath of the attack, London Mayor Sadiq Khan shared a video on Facebook. “Londoners will never be cowed by terrorism,” he said. And he’s right.
What happened in London yesterday was horrible, but Londoners, whether they be policemen or doctors or civilians on the ground, have been characteristically fearless. Here are just a few of the responses that show it will take a lot more than this to wear London down.
At times like these I always want to point out to those planning to attack London that it's the city that endured the Blitz. It's got this.

Really reassuring to see a large police presence on the tube tonight. And seeing London/ers on the move and undaunted. What a great city!

Tomorrow I'll board the Tube, moan about crowding and frown at ppl who stand on the left. Because I'm a Londoner. And nothing stops London.

Those reporting sadness/quiet/tension on the streets of London today should remember Londoners are not known for their sunny disposition

A guy this morning got his head stuck in the train doors. Twice. Trying to get *off* the tube. So yes, London is completely back to normal.

"London shut down, city in fear" mate I left work, ripped up 5-a-side and went to the pub, chill down a bit ya prat

On 7/7 when the tube was down people went to the pub. There were picnics in Soho square.

This is London. As long as it's not lightly snowing, the city isn't coming to a standstill.

Nothing says standing up to terrorism more than posting fake tube sign photos and then arguing with people about fake tube sign photos.
— Jim Waterson (@jimwaterson) March 23, 2017
It's heartening how quickly Twitter has returned to normal to argue about a relatively innocuous photoshopped tube sign.

As a Londoner, I don't feel scared. I don't feel more fear than I did at this time y'day. A terrible thing happened. But we are resilient.

Odd how much friendlier London gets on days like this. Strangers on the tube talking. Not even about the attack – just talking.

It's not a particularly profound observation but it dominated my thoughts on the way into work this morning: I bloody love London.
