STI laden ladybirds have arrived in Cardiff

A new immigration crisis sweeps the nation as a breed of foreign ladybirds, able to spread sexually transmitted diseases, have been spotted swarming in a Cardiff park.

Foreign Harlequin Ladybirds have been spotted all over the country recently, but a recent sighting marks the epidemic spreading to Cardiff’s Victoria Park.

They have also been known to eat native ladybirds.

Arriving in droves from Asia and North America, they can be identified by their black wings, and are known to carry the Laboulbeniales fungal disease.

Transmitted by mating with native ladybirds, this disease could affect the lifespan, or number of eggs a female is able to produce, according to the UK Ladybird Survey.

Humans are not at risk, according to the survey, however much of the country’s creepy crawly population, such as spiders, centipedes and insects, could be at risk if they come into contact with the invading ladybirds.

Swarms tend to occur near windows, so keeping windows closed is advised as the ladybirds can leave unpleasant smells and stains on furniture.
