Two men have been seriously injured in a stabbing incident in Cardiff city centre
This is the second stabbing in Cardiff city centre within 24 hours
On Sunday 29th August, two men were involved in a serious stabbing incident in Cardiff’s Kingsway.
Both men, 21, have suffered “puncture wounds” regarding their injuries.
Shortly after the incident, a group of males were seen running away from the scene. The main road by Cardiff Castle and a large section of the city centre will remain closed as police investigate the incident.
It is reported both men are in a stable condition but concerns rise as this is the second stabbing to happen in the city over the weekend.
However, police do not believe the incidents are connected.
Detective Inspector Cox has said: “We are investigating another serious assault in Cardiff city centre. On the occasion, two men were injured but thankfully both are in a stable condition.”
“We have a team of officers working hard to identify who was responsible. This incident is not believed to be linked to the assault that occurred in the early hours of Saturday.”
“Knife crime has devastating consequences and tackling this concerning issue is a priority for us. Our officers are patrolling the city centre and are exercising stop and search powers when they have grounds to do so.”
Anybody who was in the vicinity of Kingsway at around 1am who witnessed the incident or who may have dash cam or mobile phone footage are urged to make contact by calling 101 and referencing *303953.
