Not bog standard: Strand install new plush flush ladies’ loos

They’re not taking the piss

The ladies loos in the Strand have been replaced with a new eco-friendly air-flushing system.

Students on the Strand Campus have been left surprised and confused to discover the new toilets, which boast a bizarre system called “Propelair”.

The flushing system, which requires closing the lid to flush so it doesn’t propel anything else, claims to save KCL 80% on its water bills and generally save the planet.

It hasn’t been confirmed whether this saving will go towards providing hot water for first years in halls.

Everything you’ve always wanted

We discovered a less than impressed Millie, a second year politics student, studying the fantastically patronising instruction manual plastered next to the flush button.

She told us: “It doesn’t make sense to me why we need to change a perfectly effective system used since the invention of toilets – a system that does not require instructions taped to the back of the door.”

‘We never thought we’d need to tell you how to flush a toilet, but…’

What is going on

“If we need instructions to flush a toilet at the 16th best university in the world, the flush is too complicated.”

Maybe she has a point.
