You’re not going to believe this, but Meghan Markle was at King’s yesterday
And the joke continues
Sunnii-Elle Peifer-StaffordIt's a long running tradition now where the Royals don't publicise when they'll be coming to King's. To our great surprise, the latest to join in on the fun is HRH Duchess of Sussex, aka Meghan Markle, who visited Strand campus yesterday.
She was a guest of the ACU (Association of Commonwealth Universities) who meet every year to discuss how to combat social and political issues through education at university campuses.
Her involvement with the ACU follows her first speech given at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji on her tour of down under with Prince Harry in September (also incidentally when they announced she was pregnant).
Two other professors of King's were present at the event, including our fave Principal Ed Byrne and Professor Funmi Olonisakin (International VP). Other invitees include Vice-Chancellors of Manchester, Leicester, Nottingham, UCL, and Chair of the ACU and Pro V-C of the University of Melbourne, Shawn Ewen.
Hailed as "the world's first and oldest international university network", the ACU are predominantly concerned with how to combat 21st century human trafficking, gender equality and inclusion, modern slavery, climate change, and peace and reconciliation in the Commonwealth, as well as other nations.
Naturally, nobody knew about it. Only this morning at 9:45am did King's College tweet about it on their official feeds.
