Somebody fetch my wig, gay couples can now get married in Heaven

It’s the club’s 40th anniversary this year

Gay couples can now get married on the dance-floor of gay nightclub Heaven, the owners confirm.

The club, which is located on the Strand just a short walk from King's, gained permission from Westminster Council to become a wedding venue this week.

Owner of the nightclub Jeremy Joseph told PinkNews: "We thought, as so many people meet at Heaven, it's the starting point of thousands of relationships, wouldn't it be amazing that people could marry at Heaven?"

The license issued by Westminster City Council means the club's "main floor, Star Bar, Stage Bar and balcony" can all be "used as a venue for the solemnisation of marriages and/or the formation of civil partnerships".

The licence requires no food or drink be sold or consumed one hour before or during proceedings.

The licence also requires proceedings be open to the public "without charge".

The owner said: "The application is part of securing Heaven’s future."

To celebrate the 40th anniversary, G-A-Y "will be paying for someone's wedding" at the club.
