History students to submit dissertations digitally and do online open-book exams
Other departments have made similar decisions.
In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, the King’s History department has updated its students on the latest measures they’re taking to prevent further spread of COVID-19.
The King’s department of History confirmed in an email sent to its students of the latest preventative steps they have adopted.
This includes 24 hour online open-book examinations in almost all cases.
The alternative assessments come after conventional exams were cancelled less than a week ago. The exam timetable is yet to be confirmed.
Students will now no longer be required to submit a hard copy of final-year dissertations in person. They must only be submitted online.
Students with upcoming assessed presentations will have their marks rescaled accordingly. This is on top of the measures taken to alter how presentations are being graded under strike measures.
So far, there have been five confirmed cases of the virus at King’s.
Last night students were told to go home, where possible, and staff have been advised to work at home.
