Stop what your doing: Pret is reopening stores in London for delivery and takeaway

10 stores will be opened near London hospitals

Pret a Manger has announced that it will be reopening ten London stores for takeout and delivery this week.

The ten stores will reopen near London hospitals from Thursday 16 April.

Whilst the menu size will be reduced, however,  Pret will also be providing essentials such as bread and milk.

NHS workers will continue to receive a 50% discount from the stores until the end of April.

In a blog post, CEO Pano Christou, said:

“Since we temporarily closed our doors, our charity vans have donated 477,000 Pret items to 138of our charity partners and 40 hospitals.

“But we’ve also been hearing from local NHS workers and hospitals that they want to be able to access freshly made food nearby.”

Pret went into lockdown along with other commercial services in March, however, they have been looking for ways to help serve the public and particularly key workers.

The chain originally closed its stores to protect its staff, following the strict lockdown guidelines, however, takeaway outlets are permitted to stay open if food is prepared for collection or delivery.

The company have had help from 160 volunteers to make this happen. The CEO said:

“We are incredibly grateful that 160 Team Members have volunteered to help reopen 10 shops in London, located close to hospitals.

“In doing so, this will help give frontline healthcare workers better access to freshly prepared food while also getting our supply chain up and running again to deliver food to the homeless.”
