#ReclaimTheseStreets socially distanced vigil in Lancaster tomorrow

‘A vigil for all women threatened on our streets’

In honour of Sarah Everard’s memory, the Lancaster based non-profit queer collective, Queer boots, have decided to hold a socially distanced vigil to demand better.

Sarah Everard’s has shown us all a reality which many women have known for a long time. We as a society need to work harder to make a safe environment because, as the group’s Facebook claims: “Safety is a right, not a privilege.”

This event is centred around those who experience gender-based and misogynistic oppression. However, it is open to all. The vigil will adhere to strict coronavirus restrictions and requires the wearing of masks.

Queer Boots have posted on Instagram and Facebook that the vigil will take place in Dalton Square on the 13th of March at six pm.

The group have also requested for anyone unable to attend the vigil to tweet #ReclaimTheseStreets and/or to light a candle at six pm on Saturday.
