Ripple President and Print News Editor to battle it out in Presidential vote
ULSU sabbatical nominees have been announced. The biggest battle is expected to be Everett vs. Robinson
It’s that time of year again, sabbatical elections are just around the corner and the candidates have been revealed.
The candidates have only been known to students for one hour but it looks like there are going to be some interesting battles in the fight to win over the student population.
Current President of The Ripple, Christopher Everett, will be pitting his political know-how against the recently appointed Print News Editor at the same publication, Alistair Robinson.
The election campaigns could cause friction between the two as they battle it out to be king of Leicester University Students’ Union. Expect the gloves to come off.
Added to that mix is current Education Officer, Michael Rubin, famous for his recent exam feedback campaign and for eating a goat (not really). The fight for the Presidential seat is sure to be long and arduous.
Adewole Agbaje and Peter Clarke will also be running for President.
Engagement Officer Sean Kelly-Walsh will be running for the same position in the coming elections, hoping that the recent “Keep Clarendon Park Independent” campaign will be fresh in the minds of students.
It’s going to be a thriller…
He’ll be fighting it out with Katrina King, an avid fan of Burlesque.

Distance Learning Officer, Harry Wells, who hit the headlines when he published a story about one of Leicester’s rugby clubs going to a gay bar in drag, will run for the position, as will James Appleyard, ULSU’s Undergraduate Officer. Sam Rowbotham and Alexia Karageorghis will also contend for the Experience Officer role.

The hole left by Michael Rubin in the role of Education Officer will be filled by one of six candidates.
Aaron Elcock and Yordan Nikolov are two candidates with a lot of experience in student politics. Elcock was elected to the Student Council in October’s elections, whilst Nikolov has extensive experience within the SU. He is an SU Brand Ambassador, an Operations Assistant at the Union and part of the Careers Service Student Engagement team according to his Facebook page.

Charlotte Agran, Jack Coopey, Amanda Groves and Matthew Ilyya Hardman Jones will also fight for the role.
Campaigning starts tomorrow with voting opening on Monday 24th February at 10am. The votes will be counted after 3pm on the 26th, with the results announced at Red Leicester.
