Students and clubs have been quick to share their disbelief at the decision and demand that the new event still meet their high standards.
@gracebradyy After 10 years at the top it’s time for me to retire. But I’ve lined up a worthy successor for Wednesdays next year I promise!

In the last decade Red Leicester has confirmed its place as the firm favourite amongst the student population, largely due to a variety of drinks deals and a commitment to playing cheesy music.
Some students have described Red Leicester as an ‘institution’ on social media as others suggest the university won’t be the same without it.
Clubs and societies have also favoured the events due to discounted tickets and the ability to get some committee members in for free. The events have also played host to the sabbatical elections results and the Varsity after party.
Little is known of what will follow Red Leicester though students can expect to hear about the future of their beloved Wednesday night in the very neat future.
