French third years organise vigil tonight to remember victims of Paris attack

A memorial ceremony is to take place at the Clock Tower at 6pm

In honour of the victims of the attacks in Paris on Friday, French students have organised for a memorial ceremony to take place at the Clock Tower at 6pm tonight.

The attacks saw the murder of 129 people, leaving 352 wounded, 99 of which are currently in a critical condition. An atrocity that ISIS has claimed responsibility for.

The vigil invites members of the public to bring flowers, banners and flags in memory of the lives lost, and in solidarity against the horrors that the terror group has inflicted.

Josh Bird told the Leicester Mercury: “Our main purpose for organising the event is to pay respects to all the victims of the attacks in Paris on Friday evening.”

“But this is not our only purpose as we will not only be paying our respect to the victims of the attacks on Paris, but also to those in Beirut and Baghdad, as well as all of those around the world who deal with this kind of terror and brutality on a regular basis.

“And so it is for all the victims of all these attacks that we will pay our respects to today.”

Over 100 people are attending. Information about the event can be found on Facebook.
