Woman dies in hit-and-run on Jesmond Road
A man is in a life threatening condition
Police are appealing for witnesses after a female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of a hit and run on Jesmond Road and one other male pedestrian was left with life threatening conditions.
Emergency services were called to the scene, near the Punch Bowl pub, on Jesmond Road at 7:20pm this evening.
The 75-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the 79-year-old male was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a dark coloured car.
The road was closed for multiple hours this evening, following the incident.
Police are appealing for any information and witnesses to find the driver and car. They are also looking for anyone with any dashcam footage.
