10 Things To Do This Week
This week is jammed packed with everything Nottingham has to offer, from Radio 1 favourite Indiana to StrEAT in the Lace Market.
1. Amateur Girl @ Nottingham Playhouse, Neville Studio
Monday – Saturday, 8pm, £8-£10
Starring Lucy Speed of Eastenders’ fame, this is a hard-hitting yet wryly amusing play about the fantasy business.
2. Singin’ in the Rain @ Theatre Royal
Tuesday – following Saturday, times vary, £19+ (discounts for students)
This adaptation of the classic film comes to the Theatre Royal stage this week, following rave reviews from critics and audiences.
It tells the story of the first Hollywood musical, when the silver screen ‘found its voice’
Wednesday, doors 7pm, £6.50
She’s from Nottingham and she’s turning into a big deal. She’s been picked as Radio 1’s Track of the Day, Annie Mac and Zane Lowe love her and she’s played for the Queen. See her before she’s too big for the Bodega.

4. Made in Dagenham Film Screening @ Hallward Library Screening Room
Thursday, 4pm, Free
The Women’s Network host a screening of Made in Dagenham for a chilled late afternoon social; go along and meet like-minded people.
5. Pop Art to Brit Art @ Lakeside
Open daily from 11am- 5pm, FINAL WEEK, free.
This week is your last chance to see Notts alum David Ross’ personal art collection at Lakeside.
David Ross spent the money he earned by founding the Carphone Warehouse on some cool art.
6. Nottingham StrEAT @ Lace Market Square
Friday – Sunday, times vary, Free
Get off the 34 at the Lace Market and head down Adam’s Walk. In the heart of Nottingham’s ‘creative quarter’ this market celebrates local producers and organisations with lots of street food vendors and real ale.

7. Chinese New Year Gala @ Royal Concert Hall
Friday, 7.30pm, £12
The Chinese Students and Scholars Association of Nottingham host an evening of celebration at the Concert Hall this week.

8. Frank Turner @ Capital FM Arena
Friday, doors at 6pm, £22.50
Hugely popular folk star Frank Turner takes on the Capital FM arena for an evening of acoustic tunes.

10. Jazz in my Pants @ Spanky Van Dykes

Student only night of jazz, funk and swing. Featuring student jazz band Moonlighters and Cheshire and the Cat. Definitely something a little different.
