Cripps Health Centre goes Living Wage after Notts student campaign

The Cripps Health Centre has become the first GP in the East Midlands to become accredited to the Living Wage Foundation.

Over 80 people attended Cripps Hall last week at an event hosted by the Student Living Wage Campaign and Nottingham Citizens.

There were performances from breakdancing society and latin and ballroom dancing society as students, community leaders and members of the SU joined Cripps Health Centre in celebration.

The living wage is the amount calculated by academics as the wage someone can live on without being in working poverty and is currently set at £7.65 per hour.

In becoming accredited to the Living Wage Foundation, employers are committed to setting their wages in line with a centrally set living wage which rises with inflation.

Michael Pugh, speaking on behalf of the UoN Living Wage Campaign, told Impact Magazine: “It is important to present the UoN Living Wage Campaign as a fun and engaging campaign. We’re not marching outside the Vice-Chancellor’s office and want to present a positive message to the University.”
