You can sign a petition to fight against Notts buses going up to £1.70 per fare

Who has that kind of cash on them?

Jacob Collier, the SU Community Officer, has started a petition to combat the rise of student bus fares.

Back in 2016, the price of a student bus fare was only £1. Now, they are raising the price of a single student fare to £1.70. A price which is unaffordable for most who rely on the buses to get into town and to their lectures.

This letter was sent to the NCT as a first step to fight this raise:

Collier says, "students are right to be frustrated about this price hike, as the cost of living is already increasing and it will put more financial pressure on students who want to use the bus.

"We are disappointed that Nottingham City Transport (NCT) did not consult with the Students’ Union before raising the fare and therefore have not fully investigated the impact of this on our members and their customers".

He is meeting with NCT in early October to "work out a solution and [he] hopes they'll make changes for the benefit of our students".

The petition has just under 500 signatures already and is open until 10th October.
