Man charged with attempted murder after Nottingham Trent staff member stabbed on campus
The alleged attack occurred on Nottingham Trent University’s Clifton Campus
A man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing at Nottingham Trent University on Monday morning.
Staff and students on Nottingham Trent University’s Clifton Campus were evacuated in the wake of the incident earlier this week and police cars and ambulances were present at the scene, The Nottingham Tab previously reported.
The victim, a male member of staff in his 50s, was taken to hospital after sustaining multiple injuries. He remains in hospital but his injuries are not life-threatening, police say.
The suspect, Ryan Usher, 48, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article. He will appear in court before magistrates today. He has also been charged with assault in relation to an incident in January.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Bull, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers have been working hard to investigate Monday’s attack.
“I am pleased that we have now been able to bring a charge not only in this case, but also for another incident where a woman was spat on.”
In a statement made to The Tab Nottingham on Monday, a Nottingham Trent University spokesperson said: “We are working with Nottinghamshire Police with regards to an incident that occurred earlier this morning on our Clifton Campus. We are offering support to any students and colleagues who may have been affected.”
