Actions speak a lot louder than words!

Maria is co-founder of Subverse Radio

Name: Maria Perevedentseva, St Catz Student
Nights: Subverse, Eclectric, Extracurricular

Favourite Venue in Oxford?

The Cellar, although I’ve got to rate Carbon for their sound-system though, and the Bullingdon has a really nice shape to it.

The track you hate to hear in a club?

If I hear ‘Au Seve’ one more time it’s gonna make me want to break shit.

What’s the Oxford crowd like?

They’re really receptive, always hungry for new sounds. Even those wankers who request a Disclosure tune at every set you do, they’re still on it. That raw energy that pumps Oxford’s dancefloors, that’s what it’s all about.

Your favourite new artist?

Legowelt, without a doubt. He’s not a new artist, but he’s a boss. Pure vibes, I love it.

The track you’ve probably played the most in sets?

The ideal festival track?

Oooff, that’s the hardest question hands down. ‘Stone Cold’ by the Groove Chronicles. It’s just too perfect.

The track you’d play to show off my eclectic tastes

Bit of Italo Disco should do the trick. Infuriatingly underrated genre, get to know!

You can hear Riaz on alternate Thursdays

Name: Riaz Phillips, LMH student
Venues: Supermarket, Babylove

What is your favourite venue in Oxford?

Bridge!!

Do you like the Oxford crowd?

Yeah I do, it’s really open, there is no real pressure for amazing DJ skills or the latest songs by someone nobody has even heard of yet. People aren’t looking to be impressed – they just really want to dance!

How would you describe your sets?

Secondary School Music. Fun!

What track is your guilty pleasure?

The track you’ve probably played the most in sets?

Rihanna – If Its Lovin That You Want

The track you play to fill the floor?

The track you hate to hear in a club?

Man, I don’t know who it’s by but the lyrics are like “Airplanes in the night sky like shooting starts blah blah I could use a wish right now, wish right now”

That’s Airplanes by Hayley Williams & B.o.B. Thanks guys!
