Respect MP George Galloway became embroiled in further controversy last night when he was confronted by a protester during his speech at the Oxford Union.
Galloway, the MP for Bradford West, had just finished giving a talk and was beginning to answer questions from the audience when the student, reported to be Brasenose Historian Jonathan Hunter, jumped up and took the microphone.
Waving an Israeli flag, Hunter chastised Galloway for refusing to debate with his fellow student and friend Eylon Aslan-Levy back in February of this year, stating: “I think you did a lot of harm by not speaking to my friend Eylon and not having a constructive dialogue with him.”
After this, Hunter appeared to march towards Galloway, before finally announcing that he didn’t actually have a question as he “doesn’t debate with racists.”
Galloway later tweeted that he believed the student “a fool” before accusing another student of “lying and not even working for Murdoch yet.”
Galloway has courted controversy throughout his career, from persistent attacks on Israel to dressing up as a cat on Celebrity Big Brother.
