Seventieth Heaven

Sheffield is in the Top 100 Unis in the world – ahead of some big names.

Sheffield has remembered its Ps and QS for another year, staying in the Top 100 universities in the world.

The Uni came in 71st in the QS World University Rankings released on Tuesday, down five places on last year’s effort

Being overtaken by Sweden’s Lund University is a black mark by Sheffield’s name, but they still achieved the gold standard of being Yorkshire’s best uni.

Sheffielders took to Twitter to welcome the news, with fourth year medic Chris Hooper telling Leeds to “shove that up [their] pipe and smoke it.”

Students have consistently been impressed with the Uni’s recent investment in its facilities, acknowledged in topping satisfaction tables last month.

Second year Rich Cantwell told The Tab: “the Uni’s clearly had massive plans to make this happen and it’s paid off.”

Sheffield also comfortably beat Durham, who climbed from 92nd to 90th, while Leeds slipped three places from 94th.

Durham was castled by the Steel City

This left Sheffield as the second best northern uni after Manchester.

In other news, Sheffield Hallam University did not feature in the Top 800.
