The do’s and don’ts of Tramlines

Journey juice is your new best friend

As Tramlines, the event of the year, kicks off tomorrow we thought we’d give any first timers, or foolish veterans, the lowdown on how to make the most of the weekend.

You can thank us later when you’re belting out Bonkerz by Dizzee Rascal or twerking to Milkshake by Kelis without a care in the world.

DO:

Get your wristband early on to avoid pointlessly queuing when you could be having fun

Get a solid day drink on

Glitter up – life’s too short not to be covered in glitter. It may be an ‘urban festival’ but that should not stop you from embracing your inner festival hippie chic

Wear the waviest of garms

Spice up your life – go to a variety of venues, from main stage to the folk forest there’s a huge range

Indulge in fancy dress – get the whole crew on board for maximum fun

Have a plan of what you want to see – planning is key

Take journey juice for the queues, they’ll be so long you may sober up (but make sure not to be seen with it on the way into main stage, they won’t be happy)

Discover new bands – pick a random act on the lineup and see them, they may surprise you

Drink up before going to main stage, drinks prices are ludicrous – not Northern friendly at all

Get in as many club photos as possible to increase your chance of getting in The Tab’s official roundup of Tramlines

DON’T:

Go too hard on Friday night, you have a whole weekend ahead of you. Pace yourself.

Sleep through the whole damn lineup – we know the day after Night Kitchen or Hopeworks can be a gruelling one, but you’ll regret missing the daytime fun. Have a Berocca and you’ll be fine.

Get to Night Kitchen/Hopeworks/Yellow Arch past 11, unless you want to queue for over an hour

Forget to wear suncream, this weekend is set to be a scorcher

Stinge and miss out on festival food, it rivals the music for being the main attraction

Pie isn’t just a food. It’s a lifestyle.

Get too obsessed with seeing every band on your ‘to-see’ list, strike a balance between seeing your top picks and not becoming a diva about missing any.

Try and get a taxi from main stage after the headliners, the entire area is chaos, pigs will fly before you get a cab.

Miss the headliners, the atmosphere in Ponderosa is amazing
