Three Sheffield pubs shortlisted for Great British Pub Awards

The Doctor’s Orders, Champs Sports Bar and The Sheffield Tap have all been revealed as national finalists in a competition celebrating thriving pubs across the UK.

After being named as the ‘world’s real ale capital’ in a report back in April and found to be the best city for drinking real ale in UK for three consecutive years, Sheffield’s pub industry has been given another boost by The Great British Pub Awards.

Run by the Morning Advertiser, the event attracts hundreds of entries from pub operators across the country and is seen as a chance for businesses to raise their profile.

Glossop Road’s The Doctor’s Orders has been selected as a finalist in the ‘Best Student Pub’ category.

Also chosen from more than 1,300 entries, Eccy Road’s Champs Sports Bar & Grill is up for ‘Best Sports Pub’ and ‘Best Student Pub’ too.

Offering 12 continental swing handled taps and over 200 different bottled world beers, train station drinking spot The Sheffield Tap has made the cut in the ‘Best Beer Pub/Bar’ category.

Speaking of the awards, Morning Advertiser’s Ed Bedington, said: “These awards are a great platform to promote your business.

Winners will be announced at a black-tie event at London’s Park Lane Hilton on Wednesday 5 October.
