Sheffield ranked in the top 25 unis in the UK

Sheffield University has been ranked in the top 25 of unis across the UK, according to the Sunday Times’ Good University Guide released today.

Coming in at 24 nationally, we continue to perform solidly on the league tables and also beat many of our Russell Group rivals with Liverpool and Manchester falling behind us.

Despite a slight dip overall from last years’ figures, three of our key categories judged were also given a top 25 placing. Student experience was ranked in at 22nd and our research quality was placed in 23rd.

Hallam, meanwhile, was left trailing behind with an overall ranking at 79 and research quality at 88.

Sheffield’s graduate prospects were impressively on the up this year, with more than four in every five students going into professional employment or further study within sixth months of graduating.

We did expectedly lose out in many areas to the usual suspects of Oxbridge and LSE, but these rankings just add to a great year of recognition for Sheffield. Not only do we have the most popular SU for five consecutive years, the Times Higher Education Work Rankings kept us as one of the 125 world’s best universities this month.

Speaking of our position in the prestigious uni guide, SU President Dom Trendall, commented: “We are really pleased that Sheffield is doing so well in such important areas.
