Style Diary: Best Dressed of the Year

Last year’s best dressed gives us a look inside his wardrobe

Over the summer Edward Yan was voted Best Dressed of the Year by Tab readers nationally. He is a second year Architecture student who describes his style as “very minimalist” and loves shopping at Mooch on Division Street. His top piece of fashion advice is to “wear what makes you happy and don’t listen to what people say.”

Edward kept a style diary so that we could see how he dresses for everday life. Edward’s outfits prove that he certainly is worthy of the title Best Dressed of the Year.

Monday

Edward pairs an Asos shirt with Topman jeans. The all black look is classic, with the accessories adding a unique twist. This functional and minimalist outfit is perfect for a day at uni. Edward’s Topman kimono elevates the look to high fashion. Black Chelsea boots are chic and versatile for both men and women – Edward bought his from New Look. The subtle necklaces and statement ring complete this look.

Tuesday

On Tuesday Edward wore a casual outfit. Coatigans were a big hit last autumn and they are still on trend. Edward styles his River Island coatigan with a New Look t-shirt and Zara leggings. His black handbag from H&M adds a low-key androgynous vibe, with the loafers blending comfort and style.

Wednesday

Edward wears an autumn essential: the leather jacket. His Forever 21 jacket is warm enough for October weather, but lightweight enough for sunny days. His Asos jeans and Topman t-shirt continue the minimalist theme of Edward’s style, but the H&M checked shirt that is tied around his waist creates an edgy, grunge vibe.

Thursday

In his most daring look of the week Edward wears a striking blue jacket from with wide leg trousers, both from Asos. The burst of colour and the obi belt show how individual Edward’s style is. The jacket takes centre stage in this outfit so other accessories are not needed.

Friday

The coordination in this outfit is perfect. Edward offsets his classic all black look with autumnal tones. His Burberry bag is not only a stylish addition to this outfit, but also practical for carrying lecture notes to and from uni. This look can go straight from lectures to Friday night drinks.

Saturday

Edward’s metallic silver bomber from Zara is perfect for the start of the weekend. It creates a futuristic disco look. Worn over an All Saints black jumper and styled with Nike Air Prestos, this outfit is perfect for a day spent browsing the shops.

Sunday

For Sunday, Edward’s look is comfy and classic. It is perfect for an autumnal walk around the park. The faux suede biker jacket from Forever 21 promises warmth and the Timberlands are ideal for walking.
