Everything you need to know about Tramlines this weekend

Literally, everything

With Tramlines under one week away, the city is getting ready for one of the best city festivals in the UK.

With The Libertines, All Saints, Metronomy and Primal Scream among the acts to perform, it’s going to be a big one, so here’s everything you need to know before this weekend.

Getting there

The festival itself starts on Friday and ends in the early hours of Monday morning, so make sure you plan on getting to Sheffield by Friday morning at the latest.

Ticket Collection

You must exchange your paper ticket for a wristband, and you have to do this in person, so don’t get your mate to go and collect yours on your behalf. Paper tickets can be exchanged at Sheffield City Hall (early collection), The Folk Forest, The Ponderosa and Devonshire Green.

E-tickets from the Tramlines website can only be exchanged at the selected venue.

Tickets bought from Festi Ticket / Ticket Arena / Dice / PftP can only be exchanged at The Ponderosa

The Stages

This year’s festival is bigger than ever, and a lot has changed from last year. All stages are outside, so take a coat or jacket depending on the weather. The main venues are Devonshire Green, Ponderosa Park, Endcliffe Park and the Peace Gardens.

There is a free bus service operating between the Folk Forest (Endcliffe Park) and the main stage which is programmed with local talent over Saturday & Sunday. Stops are located at Brocco bank and at Bolsover Street/Weston Street.

If you are getting a taxi, you must advise your taxi driver of the pick- up location due to road closures in place. For Devonshire green this is Fitzwilliam Street, and for Ponderosa Main stage, this is the Tesco on Infirmary Road.

There is also a tram service that will take you from the city centre to the main stage. You can pick up a weekend tram pass from the city hall exchange or on the tram.

After Parties

This year, after party tickets are sold separately to your weekend pass, so make sure you buy tickets to avoid disappointment. Tickets and line up are available here http://www.tramlines.org.uk/after-party/

After party tickets can be collected alongside your main festival ticket, and can be also be exchanged at The O2 Academy on entry 10pm-1.00am (Fri & Sat 21st/22nd) and Sheffield University box office, 10pm-1am (Fri & Sat 21st/22nd).

Don’t forget

Tramlines is one of the gems in Sheffield’s crown, and without it, summer in the city just wouldn’t be the same. Therefore, don’t take alcohol into venues, and food is also not allowed, but there are plenty of vans to buy snacks from (Tramlines can refuse entry to venues for people who try to sneak things in).

Also, stay safe! There’s a strict no drugs policy at Tramlines, be they illegal or legal highs, and if you see anything upsetting or odd, tell a member of security as they’re there to protect you.

Like The Tab Sheffield’s Facebook page for updates throughout the weekend, as well as interviews and exclusives with all your favourite artists.

Have a good’un!!
