Fancy something different in Freshers? Roco Creative calls Sheffield students who love to doodle
Why drink when you can do a few lines?
Freshers’ week is a time to meet new people, start conversations and try new experiences. Though signing up to societies and clubbing till dawn should therefore definitely be on your freshers’ bucket list, Roco Creative is offering a different way for students to make memories with those around them.
Doodle Club is returning to Sheffield ready for the new term and welcomes all buzzing drawers regardless of prowess or artistic skill. Set to re-start on Wednesday 19 September between 6:00-9:30pm, the event will take place every month on Glossop Road and is hosted by Sheffield-based illustrator Geo Law.
Each month the event features an expert drawer for guests to meet and greet. These experts also run workshops and demonstrations on the night, so you don’t need to be an artist to join in the fun. Whether you are passionate for art or simply just love to draw, Doodle Club is the place for you.
But Doodle Club is not just a space to illustrate your ideas. The doodlers over at Roco Creative firmly believe that drawing allows you to connect with new people and formulate new conversations. The event promises to be a fun-packed social where you can grab a drink with your mates whilst at the same time putting pencil to paper and learning (or trying to learn) how to draw.
Geo told The Tab: "The aim of the evening is to create a safe zone for people to come in, drink and doodle. We leave pens, paper and optional task sheets for people to use, but of course guests are free to bring their own things too."
Tickets are available to buy now, and student tickets are only £3.50 for an evening which promises three-and-a-half hours of doodle-based fun. All tickets help to fund the materials and resources provided.
Everyone has found that creative spark and had a sketch at some point in their lives, whether it was when bored sick in our fifth period at school, weary at the back of a lecture counting down the clock or even over a long journey to help pass the time.
So, if you’re a keen doodler or just want something fun to do whilst having a drink with new mates; or if you feel like trying something new or just want to fill up spare time before your big freshers’ Wednesday night out, be sure to check in to Roco Creative and give Doodle Club a go.
