Here are the must see gigs in Sheffield this November

It's got to that time of year where it's dark before 5pm, you are trying your hardest not to put the central heating on to save on bills and shops are eagerly decorating their interiors with Christmas decorations.

So, instead of chucking two jumpers and five pairs of socks on to try and keep warm, how about getting down to some of the gigs that are taking place this month all over the city (Tip: gig venues are pretty warm once the evening gets going).

Henderson – The Forum, 30th November

If you couldn't guess already, this band are local, but don't judge them on your opinion on the Sheffield condiment, get down to the Forum to see why they are on their way to be one of the best bands in the region. Their EP 'Skin On Skin', released earlier this year covers all bases of indie rock, bringing addictive riffs, grunge elements on tracks such as 'Night Crawler' and atmospheric tones that leave you wanting more, clearly showing their talent in the studio as well as on stage.

They played the Crystal Stage at Tramlines last summer alongside Liberty Ship and Rosadocs, as well as appearing at MosFest on their festival stop-offs. It's going to be a gig that you won't want to miss; get your tickets here.

Yazmin Lacey – Picture House Social, 24th November

Being drunkenly persuaded to sing isn't the usual route to get into the music industry, but it has clearly worked for Yazmin Lacey. Racking up over three million streams on Spotify and making many of their editorial playlists, the singer from South London has taken the soul world by storm, creating beautiful grooves that keep you hooked.

She comes to Sheffield with her full backing band to show why songs such as 90 Degrees and Something My Heart Trusts have been so well received by key figures such as Lauren Laverne. Tickets for her show in the ballroom of Picture House Social are still available here.

King No-One w/Graces – O2 Academy, 15th November

Since their formation in 2013, King No-One have been touring extensively, building up a loyal following across the country, beginning by busking in York. They come back to Sheffield after a sold-out Leadmill gig earlier this year, bringing catchy riffs and high energy to the second room at the O2 Academy. They have received acclaim from all corners of the music world, ranging from Tom Robinson at BBC 6 Music to the Managing Director of Festival Republic.

Support comes from local lads, Graces, who are riding on the back of a successful summer of festivals and are sure to impress with their catalogue of singles and EPs which have caught the attention of many critics and avid music followers alike. Get your tickets via this link.

Larkins – Café Totem, 10th November

This summer was very successful for the Glossop band as they took on a 20 date tour across the UK and Germany and they go all over again this November on their 'Take Off' tour, coming to Café Totem in the Steel City. Bringing an eclectic mix of genres together, including funk and blues to create their sound, reminiscent of acts such as The 1975 and Little Comets, Larkins have gained recognition from platforms such as Radio X and BBC Introducing, whilst.

They've released seven singles and EPs in their career, they've been described at "Manchester's next arena band" by the Manchester Evening News and are currently under management by Scruff Of The Neck, which means they must be doing something right. Tickets are available here.

We Are Parkas – West Street Live, 19th November

If you need a band to get you grooving, you don't need to look much further than We Are Parkas, a four-piece from Bath. They are making a trip up to Sheffield on their UK tour this month and since forming in 2015, and taking inspiration from world-famous acts such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Strokes, they have built up a bit of reputation around themselves, especially in the music scene in the South West.

With only two singles, they have made a great impression, being described as a "fresh injection of pure energy", and after listening to tracks such as Penny Drop and I'm Higher, I couldn't have put it much better myself, these lads are sure to go far. As always at WSL, it's free entry so no excuses for missing this one.
