The universities most likely to leave you on the dole

We analysed the percentage of unemployed graduates from each university

It’s peak revision season, and while you’re cramming in the library you might spare a thought and wonder what this is all for – you’re paying £9,000-a-year to get a job after all. You’re worst nightmare is being unemployed after graduation, but will your uni leave you on the dole?

Using data from the Higher Education Statistics Agency, we figured out the universities with the highest percentage of unemployed graduates after their first degree

The analysis of 48 UK universities demonstrated that Welsh universities have the most with an average of 6.25 per cent. English universities came second with 5.80 per cent while Scottish unis averaged to only 5.41 per cent.

Overall Royal Holloway came top with 8.65 per cent, followed by Plymouth at 8.25 per cent and Aberystwyth 8.07 per cent.

The three universities with the least amount are listed accordingly: Lancaster 2.8 per cent, Stirling 3.64 per cent and Aberdeen 4.02 per cent.

Results for all 48 universities can be found in alphabetical order below. Note that unemployed includes those who stated that they were ‘due to start work’ but did not indicate that they were also working or in further study. Each result has been rounded to two decimal places.
