BU student to blag trip to Budapest

Charlotte Nutley is set to take part in a national ‘jail-break’ event – entitled “The Big Hitch” – in a bid to raise money for charity.

The first year Multi-Media Journalism student will join hundreds of university students from across the UK on Tuesday 22nd April 2014 to attempt to make her way from London to Budapest – all without spending a penny!

Charlotte will be raising money for the Association of International Cancer Research (AICR), an independent charity who support fundamental research into the causes and prevention of cancer.

She first heard about “The Big Hitch” from the BU Fresher’s Fair, and immediately wanted to get involved, “I love travelling and this is a way of going somewhere new for free! Also I am always keen to help charities.”

Charlotte and her two friends will have four days to make it across Europe, using their persuasive skills to blag tickets and hitch lifts. She wants to test her persuasive charm by not planning anything in advance, “I want to do it spontaneously, at the end of the day people are sponsoring you to take on the challenge, not sponsoring your organisational skills.”

Charlotte has already raised over £200, but is still only just over half way to her target of £350. She is looking for kind donations to support her frugal adventure by donating to the AICR via her Raise2Give page.
