Winton local sends threatening letter to BU students warning them to not make ‘any noise’
Term hasn’t even properly started yet ffs
Shortly after moving back to university, a Bournemouth student received a hostile letter from a local Winton resident threatening to take action if they were disturbed by their student lifestyle.
The letter warned they will "not tolerate any noise, antisocial behaviour, or parties from any student household, day or night," claiming they "are working families with young children".
In the letter they said they will be reporting any students who don't co-operate with their rules to "environmental health, the university or their letting agent".
The neighbours even go as far as making it clear that "resources have been made available to the residence to contact environmental health during the day and late at night".
The letter was signed of by the residents of Moordown and Winton.
Speaking to The Bournemouth Tab, the student who received the letter said: "I can understand where they are coming from to an extent, last year my neighbours were playing loud music until 2am most days of the week".
However, the student also said how the tone of the letter was unnecessary and "borderline threatening". They said the letter suggested that the neighbours are willing to report the students even at the slightest sound of loud noise, "which isn't right".
After reading the letter, the student said: "I'm going to have to contact the university and my letting agent, MyStudentPod, to see if they know about these letters.
"It isn't fair, as new residents to be accused of being loud and obnoxious by your neighbours simply because your a university student. The students proposes that, "for now, i'm just going to have to prove that we really aren't all that bad".
