What to Expect at the Christmas Market this Year

Dust off your skates, it’s time to hit the rink after a trip to the Alpine bar…

Love it or hate it, The Bournemouth Christmas Market has been a feature of the festive season here for many years.

The BCP council, Seventa Events, and the Daily Echo have all partnered up to deliver another carnival of lights and festivity in the square. The Alpine bar and Ice Rink will be back, along with the market stalls and independent food retailers – so if a Yorkshire Pudding wrap sounds up your street, then you're in for a treat!

Another favourite, the Christmas tree wonderland, will yet again adorn the lower gardens, for a music and lights spectacle. Starting in the sqaure and finishing at the beach, you can take a moment to pretend you're not actually trapped in Bournemouth, and instead in a wonderful Christmas village.

Increased financial investment in the town's Christmas events this year, has resulted in a major win for local retailers.

“The Christmas market brings the town to life! It really helps bring in extra footfall over the Christmas period. We get a lot of people from Dorset that would’t normally shop in the area.”

Manager of The Body Shop Bournemouth, Emma Wright.

The shoppers too are highly anticipating the launch of the market. Lydia Thomas, 21 from Ashley Cross, said to The Tab Bournemouth:

“For me, the Bournemouth Christmas market is something I look forward to every year. Whoever said Bournemouth was just a summer town obviously hasn’t been to the Christmas market.”

The market launches on November 15th and will carry on until January 1st. You can find out more about it here.
