Interviewed earlier in the season, Blues’ captain Akbar Ansari picked out Tit Hall as a team to look watch out for. While Tit Hall failed to make the quarter-finals Ansari’s other tip, Caius and Gonville, have qualified. It is debateable whether Ansari’s belief that the college brings in grads as ringers is the real reason for their success though.
One of the college’s that has laid a down a marker is Girton. They did not lose a game during the group stages. Girton put in a particularly impressive performance against Peterhouse. Batting first Girton racked up a score of 205 in their allotted 20 overs with Chand-Bajpai scoring the tournament’s first century.
Peterhouse were subsequently bowled out for only thirteen. To put Girton’s domination into perspective, Peterhouse failed to win a single game in the group stages.
