Exclusive: Varsity Trip 2012 Line Up Revealed!
Rob Da Bank and A. Skillz will be headlining this year’s Varsity Trip.
Breakbeat extraordinaire A. Skillz and Radio 1 stalwart Rob Da Bank are set to headline this year’s Varsity trip.
In a fire and ice themed extravaganza, the first night will see The Correspondents and CamFM’s Tim O’Brien take to the stage before A. Skillz lays down a trademark set.
The DJ, producer and label owner is known for his funky, bass-heavy productions and remixes. Tracks like this are sure to get the eager crowd of students moving:
Day two, with the theme ‘twisted circus’, includes a DJ set from indie-rockers White Lies and more breakbeat action from Krafty Kuts, described by the Varsity organisers as “one of the worlds greatest DJs”.
50 years of James Bond Mini Mix by Krafty Kuts & Skillz- not strictly relevant but pretty badass.
Radio 1 legend Rob Da Bank will round off proceedings with a headline DJ set. The Portsmouth-born DJ is also behind Bestival, one of the UK’s most successful music festivals.
The Tab can also reveal that Paul Foot will headline a comedy night that will be hosted by Gap Yah.
And if all this wasn’t enough, beatbox legend Faith SFX will perform to mark the opening of VarCity, the trip’s purpose built après-ski venue.
Student reaction to the line up has been mixed. Alex Goddard, a Caius 2nd year, told The Tab: “Those acts are pretty average. No huge names like Basement Jaxx from last year. Will probably still be decent though. I saw Rob Da Bank at Bestival and loved him there!”
However, some students had an earlier glimpse of the line up than expected. A Tab source told us: “We were given our Varsity packs yesterday, and the card had some of the line up for already in there. Considering they’re announcing the line up tonight, I think there may have possibly been a slight hiccup in terms of the line up announcement.”
Either way, those with tickets are in for a pretty hectic week. Here’s last year’s post-trip video to whet your appetite.
