Fez bouncer attacked

A bouncer at Fez has been attacked, and taken to hospital with sustained injuries.


A doorman at Fez has been attacked by a reveller.

The assailant threw an object at his head, though it is not yet clear whether the object was glass or ice. The doorman’s injuries were so bad that he had to be immediately taken to hospital.

Cambridgeshire police have appealed for witnesses to the assault which happened in the early hours of Sunday 29th December.

A spokesman released a statement on Monday: “Were you in the Fez Club in Cambridge at about 3am yesterday? [Sunday 29th] A doorman was injured and required hospital treatment after an object was thrown.

“Anyone with any information should call Det Con Andy Day on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111”

There has not been a history of violence towards doormen at the nightclub, excluding the attack which took place this time last year, when a gunman in a balaclava mask threatened workers during a cash raid at the Cambridge nightclub.

Contented students at Fez in Michaelmas

First year history student Alex says: “Whenever I’m in Fez, I feel safe and ready to party. This is not the kind of incident you expect to see in a town with such a low level of nightlife.”

As of this morning, Fez nightclub were unavailable for comment.
