Brutal three-way sex attack sparks manhunt

Police are searching for a group of three men who sexually assaulted a young man in his 20’s on Christ’s Pieces yesterday

The popular area of Christ’s Pieces was cordoned off to members of the public yesterday while police investigated the incident.

The attack took place between 2am and 5am. The suspects are described by the police as being of Middle Eastern appearance, with dark black hair.

Students have reacted to the incident with shock and outrage. Speaking to The Tab CUSU Welfare Officer Jack Wright said:

“This is horrific news and I’m appalled that it happened. If any student is affected by one of these attacks or by the news coverage of it, they can contact me for information about counselling and other services.”

The incident occurred on Christ’s Pieces in the early hours

Yesterday’s attack comes just 9 days after a sex predator targeted three women in one night across Cambridge city centre, including at Jesus Green and a shopping centre.

Another female student told us:

“Given that this is not the first serious sexual assault story to emerge in recent days, it does put you on edge a little.

“I often walk home alone from society events given that it isn’t far enough to warrant a taxi but I do so with a sense of trepidation. The threat is always there but incidents like these are a sobering reminder”.

Residents are being warned by Cambridgeshire police officers to be vigilant and take safety precautions as well as sticking to groups at night.

Anyone with information can contact police by calling 101 or information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
