X Factor auditions are coming to Cambridge
They’ve finally realised what a big deal we are
The hit ITV singing show will hold auditions in Cambridge for the first time ever next month.
Producers will be scouting the city for the next singing sensation on the 3rd and 4th of April.
Hidden Rooms will be holding a filmed open mic night for potential contestants.
The audition pod will be located in city centre – the actual location is to be confirmed on the X Factor website.
ITV Researcher Woody Bradbury said: “We’re taking this audition pod around the UK with us to different city centres to find undiscovered talent and anyone that hasn’t thought about the show before.
“Last year’s winner Ben Haenow was a lorry driver before he applied – that’s the kind of people we hope the pod will attract.”
ARU film and drama student Ben Morrell, 20, took the stage by storm and wooed Gary Barlow back in 2011.
He said: “Having a standing ovation at the O2 arena even though I couldn’t sing was unexpected. Being on X Factor was totally amazing and I would recommended it to anyone.
“I knew I couldn’t sing, but I’ve always wanted to meet Cheryl. Turns out she wasn’t there that year.”
This year will see X Factor’s biggest audition pool to date, with producers visiting an unprecedented 50 cities across the UK and Ireland.
There is no need to register as contestants can simply apply at the Audition Van on the day, although acts are advised to turn up early.
High trousered Simon Cowell said: “The X Factor is coming back and, if you think you have the potential to be a world-class star, this is your chance to prove it.
“You really could be the next pop superstar.”
